DESCRIPTION
Set of 2 Straps for Rack, for cars with roof rack (side rails,
cross bars or both). Straps are heavy-duty, 1.5 inches wide,
seat-belt style. They are soft, flexible and easy to work with, and
have been specially treated to be water-repellent while retaining
their softness.
Each strap consists of 3 sections: Rack Short
Strap, Top Strap and Rack Long Strap. Sections are joined by 2
heavy-duty side-release buckles.
Total length of Rack Short Strap + Top Strap + Rack Long
Strap: 98 inches.
Finger loops at the ends make it easy to tighten the straps.
Straps are water-repellent -- they don't get wet.
USE
You can fasten RoofBag car top carriers securely to either
side rails or cross bars, even if cross bars are closer than the
length of the carrier (see illustrations above).
Two Straps
for Rack are included with each RoofBag car top carrier sold for cars
with rack.
Four side-release buckles (2 per strap) provide easy access to the
contents of the roof carrier.
Buy an extra set of 2 Straps for Rack for additional installation
options of your roof carrier:
•
Fasten your car top carrier to both the crossbars and the side rails
of the roof rack, for maximum attachment strength. One pair of straps
runs front-to-back and secures the carrier to the crossbars, and the
other pair runs side-to-side and secures the roof carrier to the side
rails.
•
If your car has only cross bars, you can fasten the rooftop carrier to the cross
bars using 4 parallel straps running front-to-back for greater attachment
strength, a quieter ride and better fuel savings. (Loose fabric, especially in a
less-than full carrier, tend to cause noise, lower fuel efficiency and possibly
cause fabric damage).
•
If your car has only side rails, fasten the rooftop car top carrier to the side
rails using 4 parallel straps running side-to-side for greater attachment
strength, a quieter ride and better fuel savings. (Loose fabric, especially in a
less-than full carrier, tend to cause noise, lower fuel efficiency and possibly
cause fabric damage).
INSTALLATION
The Top Strap slides under the strap guides at the top of
the carrier. The Rack Short Strap and the Rack Long Strap
are fastened to the rack using a slip knot. Loop the buckle around
the rack, thread the buckle through the strap loop at the end of the
strap and fasten to the Top Strap by sliding the two halves of the
side-release buckles into each other.
The length of the each
strap is adjustable at each of the two buckles. To adjust, pull from
the Finger Loops located at each end of each strap.
Secure the free ends of the straps by wrapping the free end around
the taut section of the strap and tucking the end under the last
turn. This avoids flapping of the free end during travel (see
diagram above).
If a strap makes a whistling or a rumbling noise during travel,
unbuckle the suspect taut section of strap, twist it half a turn or
one full turn and re-buckle.
